Tiivistelmä
EATING TOGETHER food recommendations for families with children is a national recommendation for children, families with children, and pregnant and breastfeeding women. The recommendations describe the principles of a balanced diet that promotes health and gives guidelines on how to carry it through in families with children. The recommendations emphasise food education, support for the child when learning to eat and the enjoyment of food. They take into account the latest research on the introduction of solid foods and the transition from breastfeeding to the family diet. The recommendations promote more than previously a varied, diversified and appropriate diet and include multiculturalism and alternative ways of eating. Recommendations for those on a vegan diet, food for youth engaged in sports and certain special situations are included. The recommendations examine the meals of a family with children starting with the planning of the pregnancy all the way to early adulthood. This second edition contains updates on the instructions for use of vitamin D supplements for children under the age of one, instructions for the safe use of foods and for example recommendations for use of plant-based beverages that are used in a similar manner to cow s milk and for sources of plant proteins. The recommendations serve as a source of information for all professional groups whose work involves nutritional issues related to children, pregnant and breastfeeding women and families with children.
